Linux 5.15.220 delivers a broad round of stability and security fixes across USB, networking, HID, filesystems, and virtualization subsystems. Notable security-relevant fixes include several use-after-free issues (usbfs/usbdev_release, c67x00 isolated URB handling, xfrm espintcp close path, HID uclogic inrange_timer), buffer overflow corrections (ALSA usb-audio OOB write in snd_usbmidi_novation_output, crypto qce CCM AAD underallocation, RDMA rxe OOB in free_rd_atomic_resources), and hardening of cryptographic and networking code paths (removal of unsafe/deprecated qce algorithms, xfrm auth-trunc leak fix, ah6 routing header validation, nvmet-tcp SGL length bounding). Extensive HID ft260 driver improvements address I2C race conditions, stack-use-after-return bugs, and probing/performance issues, while filesystem fixes cover fuse invalidate lock leaks, ext4 fast-commit error propagation, jfs read-only checks, and nilfs2 ioctl validation. The release also reverts several previously problematic patches (SMB fallocate buffer allocation, mtd vmu-flash fixup, PM sleep completion handling) and refines kcov, bpf, KVM (s390 vsie, arm64 vCPU init), and CAN j1939 netdev unregistration handling for correctness and safety.
