6.6.156 (longterm, Branch 6.6)
91 Commits, davon ca. 71 Fixes
Linux 6.6.156 is a longterm maintenance release delivering a broad batch of bug fixes and hardening changes across USB, networking, crypto, filesystems, HID, and architecture-specific code. Security-relevant highlights include a use-after-free fix in usbfs's usbdev_release(), an out-of-bounds write in ALSA's snd_usbmidi_novation_output(), an OOB write in HID's pidff driver when hid->inputs is empty, and an authentication-truncation memory leak in xfrm_state_construct(); other notable fixes address UAFs in Bluetooth's hci_sync accept list, tls_append_frag(), and smc socket handling. Filesystem robustness was improved with fixes for ext4 fast-commit error propagation, jfs read-only checks before truncation, nilfs2 GC ioctl bounds validation, and exfat double-free correction, alongside fuse invalidate-lock leak fixes. The release also adds AMD Zen5 CPU model recognition, several xhci/USB gadget and dbgtty fixes, KVM s390/arm64 and x86 MMU hardening, and various driver-level use-after-free and OOB corrections (e.g., HID uclogic, ft260, magicmouse; NVMe status code cleanups; and RDMA rxe OOB fix).
